"Greetings from Ireland!

May I firstly sincerely apologise for the inexcusable delay in reverting to you. I am tempted to say that it took until now to fully recover but that would be untrue as it will take several weeks yet to fully recover from the experience that was the 2008 Welsh Super Cup!

But what a wonderful and brilliant experience it was.

I can honestly say that our 36 young players in Class H in both 8-aside and 11-aside had the best week of their lives. If it is possible I think their parents had an even better time.

We are delighted with the standard of football in the Welsh Super Cup. It fulfilled all our ambitions and afforded our 36 Development Academy players a fantastic football education and experience. It has contributed hugely to their ongoing progress and development and they are each and all better players for their participation.

It was pleasing to take home some silverware but of much more significance was the wonderful time and the endless happy memories that these players take away from their week in Wales.

Everything about the tournament was superbly organised with a relaxed and quiet efficiency that is a great credit to you and the Team Tours Direct team. The accommodation, the food, the splendid facilities were matched only by the hospitality and endless courtesies we experienced at every turn. This in turn made for a great atmosphere and the interaction between the various teams from all arts and parts was another highlight of a truly wonderful event.

I am particularly asked to convey the sincere thanks and appreciation of the player’s parents to you for a great week. Those who travelled had a great time while those who could not are very sorry to have missed out. It might interest you to know that we are soon organising a parents Welsh Super Cup reunion night so as to convey our own thanks to the parents for their contribution to a magnificent week.

We are already under huge pressure to return to Aberystwyth in 2009 but to be honest we, as a League, need little persuasion. The only issue is whether you could possibly cater for the amounts that want to travel! You can expect to hear from us in the New Year.

For the moment please accept our sincere thanks and many congratulations on a fantastic tournament. Please pass on our thanks and very best wishes to Alex Camilleri, Terry O’Neill and to the entire Team Tours Direct team, to the referees, the grounds men, the staff at Aberystwyth University to include the staff at the swimming pool together with everyone else who contributed to making the 2008 Welsh Super Cup the most wonderful and memorable experience for our young players and extended travelling party.

"The Wrexham Development Centre played in the Welsh Super Cup for the very first time in 2008 in the U8 U9 U10 U11 age groups. We found the tournament most enjoyable and beneficial for each player’s development and enjoyment. The pitches are wonderful and the general organisation and running of the tournament is fantastic. Over previous years players such as Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Shay Given, Thomas Rosicky, and Andriv Shevchenko have all graced the tournament. It is fabulous that such a popular and special tournament is being played in Aberystwyth. It is great for the children to play so many teams from around the world and from different parts of the UK. The players, club and I are already excited to participate in the 25th anniversary tournament and wish Team Tours Direct every success with the arrangements.
